Future Tense/Assumption A/V-(으)ㄹ 거예요 (Informal High)
Today, we will learn about this. One thing to mention is that it can also be used when making speculations or assumptions. There may be people wondering what '거' means. '것' means something, and as you may already know, '예요' is used instead of '이다' in the expression '것이다'.
The rule is the same with present or past tense!
Follow these steps:
- Delete ‘다’ from the stem.
- Add –(으)ㄹ 거예요.
When the word stem ends with a final consonant, use Adj/Verb + -을 거예요.
입다 (to wear)
- 입다 -> 입
- 입 + 을 거예요
- 입을 거예요.
읽다 (to read)
- 읽다 -> 읽
- 읽 + 을 거예요
- 읽을 거예요.
먹다 (to eat)
- 먹다 -> 먹
- 먹 + 을 거예요
- 먹을 거예요
잡다 (to catch)
- 잡다 -> 잡
- 잡 + 을 거예요
- 잡을 거예요.
닫다 (to close)
- 닫다 -> 닫
- 닫 + 을 거예요
- 닫을 거예요.
- 오늘 저는 흰색 셔츠를 입을 거예요. (Today, I will wear a white shirt.)
- 이 책을 다 읽을 거예요. (I will read this book to the end.)
- 저녁에 친구들과 함께 맛있는 음식을 먹을 거예요. (I will eat delicious food with my friends in the evening.)
- 공을 잘 잡을 거예요. (I will catch the ball well.)
- 문을 닫을 거예요. (I will close the door.)
When the word stem ends with a vowel, use Adj/Verb + -ㄹ 거예요.
만나다 (to meet)
- 만나다 -> 만나
- 만나 + ㄹ 거예요
- 만날 거예요.
자다 (to sleep)
- 자다 -> 자
- 자 + ㄹ 거예요
- 잘 거예요.
가다 (to go)
- 가다 -> 가
- 가 + ㄹ 거예요

보내다(to send)
- 보내다 -> 보내
- 보내 + ㄹ 거예요

공부하다 (to study)
- 공부하다 -> 공부하

- 내일 친구를 만날 거예요. (I will meet my friend tomorrow.)
